Towbar Electric Kits
With vehicle manufacturers incorporating more technologically advanced safety systems the importance of fitting electrics which protect these is paramount. Technology such as Electronic Stability Programmes (ESP), Self-Levelling Suspension and Adaptive Cruise Control benefit from having vehicle specific kits fitted.
Fitment of such kits vary, some simply plug into the vehicle wiring harness via a towing plug which is usually located at the rear of the vehicle. Other kits are fitted towards the front of the vehicle and may require downloads and reprogramming.
Certain systems lie dormant until a download is undertaken. Once complete all systems are active; for example, trailer stability programmes (TSP) would sense a change in the vehicle when towing and is able to correct a snake in the towing unit.
Most Popular Installation
The most popular installation in the UK is a Universal 7 Channel Towing Interface Module. This system acts a buffer to prevent voltage spikes being introduced to the towing vehicle's digitally controlled circuits. It also eliminates the possibility of a fault within the towed unit's electrical circuit damaging the electrical circuits of the towing vehicle.
The towing interface relay includes a built in audible device which buzzes when the vehicle's directional indicators operate, alerting the driver that the towed unit's indicators are working.
This function is a statutory requirement under the UK road regulations.
Exclusive to PCT
The Logion Towing Interface Module, exclusive to PCT Automotive, incorporates auto reset thermal current trips on all road light channels. Should a fault arise with the towed unit the relay will only shut down the area at fault (for instance the side light circuit) and not blow the main Module fuse as alternative products would.
When a faulty towed unit is unplugged the Module automatically returns to a normal state allowing the customer to return to a dealer, garage or stockist for the towed unit to be checked.

VAG, Volvo and others benefit form the fitment of vehicle specific kits and with technology increasing rapidly vehicle specific kits will be required on certain future applications.
Universal Kits
The most popular installation within the UK is that of a universal 7 channel towing interface module.
These are designed to act as a buffer preventing voltage spikes being introduced into the towing vehicles digitally controlled circuits.
This product is included within many of our universal towing electrical kits which include all relevant components required for a full installation to be completed.
Kits are available in various lengths of cable and specification dependant on the vehicle application and include detailed fitting instructions.
Certain applications include the split charge relay which allows your fridge to be operational until you reach your destination. The relay then switches the power off when the ignition is turned off, thus not draining the vehicle battery.
Universal towing kits, as a minimum include the audible relay, this device buzzes when the vehicle's directional indicators operate, alerting the driver that the towed unit's indicators are working (only when coupled to a towed unit).
This function is a statutory requirement under the UK road regulations.
Relays
We manufacture various relays allowing a full installation to be completed on most vehicles.
